The Brief: Luxurious 40th Birthday Invitations

Back in April 2016 I was contacted by a potential client who was looking for some beautiful and luxurious bespoke birthday invitations for her 40th Birthday. She was very clear that she was looking for something very special, totally unique and to feature a handmade dress, with plenty of added interest throughout the invitation, creating an experience for the recipient.

So I arranged with her a mutual time to speak over the phone to discuss her invitations and ideas further, as well as her budget,  to help begin building a clearer picture of her requirements and expectations. After our discussion I had a clearer view of what she wanted for her bespoke invites, but also what she wasn’t looking for.

The Concept: Heathcliff, Dresses, Lace and Pearls

I found from our conversation that she liked vintage and feminine designs, loved different textures, lots of little details and had a fondness of books, particularly classical literature and the Bronte sisters.

With that, the concept was already forming. I had previously created book style invites and cards for other clients and decided this was definitely the route to go, with a dress as the main design feature, with lots of added textures, interest and other little personal details, which added further interest to the invites.

Once I had further considered the overall design and materials that would be used, I provided her with a detailed written design concept and quote. After reading the design concept and quote Gazala decided she loved the idea and would very much like me to proceed with a physical sample.

Seal of Approval: Let the making commence…

Upon receipt of her sample and a few tweaks to the design (well extra additions) and order was placed, proofs approved and production began.
